The story begins when Zhuang JiaWei and his girlfriend Kaiqi, join a tour group led by tour guide, Fu Xiaoyue. Zhuang JiaWei is a sentimental and romantic young man, who has been dating his girlfriend for 7 years. Fu Xiaoyue is a young lady who is idealistic in love, and has a boyfriend she has been seeing for more than a year. She had wanted to take the chance to give her boyfriend a surprise during this tour assignment, because he is also traveling for work. Thus, Xiaoyue hides herself in her boyfriend’s hotel room, planning to give him a pleasant surprise. However, to her shock, he walks into the room with his arm around his new girlfriend. Xiaoyue is caught by surprise and does not know what to do. Her first instinct is to flee the scene without being discovered. The only way for her to get away is to climb out of the balcony like a fugitive. Just as she is about to escape, she is discovered by Zhuang JiaWei in the adjoining hotel room! Alerted by the commotion, Xiaoyue’s boyfriend walks out onto the balcony and sees her caught in an awkward position between two balconies with her face flushed with embarrassment. Soon after the incident, he takes the opportunity to suggest that they break up.

            A heart-broken Xiaoyue vents her frustration on Zhuang JiaWei, which also results in Kaiqi breaking up with the latter. Therefore, Xiaoyue and JiaWei become enemies. On their way back from the tour, they happen to be on a tour bus with criminals on board. As their bus gets hijacked and speeds dangerously along the highways, Xiaoyue has an epiphany as she sees her life flash before her eyes. In the moment of danger, she realises that she has never experienced true romance and her life may end any minute before she does. Her heart is filled with regret and her eyes well up with tears. The sentimental JiaWei is moved by her tears and impulsively promises that he will marry her if they survive this ordeal! Their fellow passengers on board overhear this and are delighted to be witnesses for this display of romance amidst grave danger. The criminals are subdued in the end. Suddenly, JiaWei and Xiaoyue are thrown into the limelight and become the centre of the media’s attention. Headlines like “Romance blooms on hijacked bus” are popping up everywhere. The public who loves soap-drama is lapping up news of their progress like a hungry fan club. The two young strangers are stuck on a rollercoaster ride they cannot seem to get off…

            JiaWei and Xiaoyue get married after dating for 7 days. They share a happy marriage but are somehow unable to say, “I love you” to each other! Perhaps their time together was too short. Perhaps they are both too jaded to believe that true romance exists in this world. Gradually, they start to discover that they do not understand each other well at all, especially when Xiaoyue encounters her hard-to-please mother-in-law, Fengjiao. She also finds out that there are two sisters-in-law, Xiao’ai and Meimei who are nitpickers.

            When Fengjiao’s husband passed away many years ago, she raised the family on her own with her immense willpower and never-say-die spirit. She took over her husband’s eyeglasses wholesale business and earned the respect of industry players. She is also well loved by her family members. In recent years, she has handed the business down to her children and retired behind the scenes. When Xiaoyue marries JiaWei and joins the family, war between the elder womenfolk and her is declared. JiaWei is put in an awkward position between all of them. To make matters worse, JiaWei’s ex-girlfriend Kaiqi joins in the chaos to try to separate him and Xiaoyue. Even though Xiaoyue manages to expose Kaiqi’s schemes several times, Kaiqi refuses to give up the fight. With no other choice, Kaiqi resorts to announcing that she is pregnant with JiaWei’s child! Fengjiao sees her son deeply troubled, and begs Xiaoyue to leave JiaWei because she cannot bear to see him tormented anymore. Xiaoyue is extremely upset, but decides to divorce JiaWei. The fairytale romance comes to an end…

            After their divorce, JiaWei is unable to forget Xiaoyue. However, he is bound by his responsibility to Kaiqi. When Kaiqi finds out about this, she is furious with jealousy. She is reminded of the dark secret she hides within herself…

            It turns out that Kaiqi’s mother has been warded in the mental institution for a very long time. Many years ago, Kaiqi’s father had an affair and her heart-broken mother killed him after becoming mentally unstable. Kaiqi was just a little girl then, and was severely traumatised to witness everything. She has suppressed this horrible secret within herself since then. When Kaiqi finds out that JiaWei is meeting up with Xiaoyue behind her back, she starts to go crazy with fury… and slowly follows in her mother’s footsteps. Kaiqi holds Xiaoyue hostage to coerce JiaWei into staying by her side. As JiaWei is too anxious to save Xiaoyue, he is severely injured by Kaiqi as a result! Before JiaWei is sent to the hospital, he manages to say, “I love you” to Xiaoyue. JiaWei slips into a coma and Xiaoyue stays by his side constantly. She prays that he will wake up one day… They have come a long way and have been through so much hardship to discover their true love for each other. Will the prince and his princess be together at last? Does the fairytale still exist?

            The eldest daughter in the Zhuang family, Meimei is a typical career woman. She is beautiful, intelligent, self-confident and a feminist as well. She works very hard for her career but has not done very well on the relationship front. Every day, she secretly prays for her prince charming to appear. Meimei had a first love when she was much younger, Fang Ziyun. Fang Ziyun has once told Meimei, “Wait for my return” and this has made Meimei waste many years of her youth waiting for him. She ends up waiting 13 years. Meimei has become an outstanding and successful businesswoman today. She is waiting for Ziyun in hope that she can redeem her lost youth, self-respect and love from this man. However, the 30-year-old spinster meets a 33-year-old playboy Fu Xinghan, who is Xiaoyue’s elder brother.

            Fu Xinghan is an eyeglasses designer. He believes in enjoying life, and has a very active social life. He is humourous, funny, cheerful, and dislikes being restrained or committed. Therefore, he is still a swinging single bachelor. Xinghan joins Meimei’s company. The two of them develop a love-hate relationship at work where they are constantly bickering. Xinghan begins to fall in love with Meimei. However, Meimei’s first love, Fang Ziyun suddenly appears and proposes to her. This has developed into a love triangle, and Meimei is in dilemma of deciding between the two men.

            The third daughter of the Zhuang family, Zhuang Xiao Ai, is lively, sporty and an extrovert. She is blessed with a glib tongue and everyone loves her. Xiao Ai wishes to be an artiste. She also has many admirers who are trying to court her. She gets to know Xinghan from a chance encounter and develops a crush on him.  When she finds out that her elder sister Meimei is in love with Xinghan, the two sisters fall out over this. Xiao Ai has a male friend (Zhang Yufan) with whom she is very close to. Their friendship is so strong that they’re like sisters. Later on, they both discover that they’ve developed feelings for each other and they thus progress to become lovers.
